Fernando Alonso was frustrated with Aston Martin for not giving him the same strategy as his teammate Lance Stroll in the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. Stroll made early pitstops under virtual safety car conditions and climbed to seventh, frustrating Alonso who finished ninth after dropping to 10th during his second pit stop. Alonso expressed disappointment in the missed opportunity and his inability to benefit from Stroll’s successful strategy. Despite his experience, Alonso stressed the importance of relying on the team’s data during mixed-weather conditions, emphasizing that it’s a data-driven race rather than the driver making decisions. Aston Martin boss Andy Cowell defended the team’s strategy, denying any issues with Alonso’s side of the garage.
